Crosshair Placement Masterclass: Pre-Aiming, Micro-Adjustments & Slicing
Upgrade your aim consistency by mastering head-level geometry, common map line references, and angle-slicing protocols.
Over 80% of gunfight wins in Radiant and VCT professional matches are decided by pre-aim crosshair placement rather than reaction flick speed.
1. Map Geometry as Head-Level Guides Riot's map designers intentionally placed visual indicators for standing head level across all environments: * Horizontal wall trims, crate stripes, and door frames consistently align with agent standing eye height. * Practice identifying these reference lines during pre-round phases on every bombsite.
2. Slicing the Pie (Angle Isolation) Never swing into an open bombsite where two or more enemy angles can see you simultaneously. Clear angles incrementally—slice the circle into 10-degree segments, clearing each corner one by one before stepping forward.
3. Accounting for Peek Distance (Crosshair Offset) * If an enemy is likely to **tight-peek** or slow-walk, place your crosshair 1-2 centimeters away from the corner. * If an enemy is likely to **wide-swing** at running speed, offset your crosshair 3-4 centimeters off the edge. This accounts for human reaction latency (~180ms), allowing the enemy to walk directly into your bullet.
